This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Updates Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Required Changes A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
